Before the Installation Please Review

If your version is less then v 4.4, please find the installation manual.

The IIS Metabase Compatibility should be installed in order to let the installer to detect IIS web server.
  • Installation in Windows Server by using the Server Manager tool:

Click Start, Administrative Tools, Server Manager. Expand Roles, right-click Web Server (IIS), and then click Add Role Services. Scroll down to IIS 6 Management Compatibility. Choose IIS Metabase Compatibility and finish installation.

  • Installation in Windows 7, Windows Vista from Control Panel

Click Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. Open Internet Information Services and go through the Web Management Tools. Choose IIS Metabase Compatibility and finish installation.

Installing Licensed WebSpellChecker on IIS

Please follow the step-by-step instructions to install the WebSpellChecker application on your web server:

Run installation package (e.g. WSC_SCAYT.VERSION.EXE). The installation Wizard will start. The installation process starts with the “Welcome” dialog.


Click Next to proceed.

In the following dialog you must read and accept the terms and conditions of the WebSpellChecker.net License Agreement.

Please accept the License Agreement and click Next to proceed.

The following dialog will tell you about the WebSpellChecker system requirements. If your computer does not conform to these requirements, WebSpellChecker won't run on your computer

Click Next to proceed.

The following dialog allows you to select components that you want to install. NOTE: Don't change the options for the next testing tasks (WebInterface testing, Functionality testing etc.).

Click Next to proceed.

The following dialog box will ask you to choose the destination location. NOTE: The default destination location is ”%ProgramFiles%\WebSpellChecker”


Click Next to proceed.

The following dialog box is labeled “Web Server Settings”. It defines the web server which will be used to run WebInterface, proxy and samples. You can choose between IIS 4.0+ and Apache 1.3.x/Apached 2.4.x and Other Web Server options. NOTE: The default web server is IIS 4.0+.

Click Next to proceed.

The following dialog box is labeled “Web Site Settings”. It allows you to select the installation point or web site in the IIS web server. By default “Default Web Site” is chosen.


If you don't want to use the default web site, click “Select Other Site”. The “Select Virtual Host” dialog displays the list of web sites available on the server.

Otherwise, click Next in the “Web Site Settings” screen to proceed.

The following “Sample Settings - Sproxy Script Settings” dialog will appear. This dialog allows you to select a proxy script version. The default value depends on the server configuration. If there are no special requirements, use the default value given.

Click Next to proceed.

The following “Select Program Manager Group” dialog appears. This dialog allows you to choose the name of the program as a Start Menu Item.


Click Next to proceed.

The following dialog is labeled “Start Installation”.


Click Next to start the installation process.


After the installation process is finished, the “Installation Complete” dialog appears. NOTE: You can enable the “Run Application Server to request a license” option that allows you to check the license.


To close the installation program dialog, click Finish.

The installation is completed.
