Before the Installation Please Review

If your version is less then v 4.8.8, please find the installation manual.

The WebSpellChecker application should run on CGI capable web server with enabled CGI-handler and Headers module.

Installing Licensed WebSpellChecker on Apache

This installation guide is intended to provide a step-by-step installation instruction of the Licensed version of the WebSpellChecker application under Apache web servers on Windows-based environments.

Step 1. Run installation package (e.g. wsc_app_win_<version>.exe). - >The installation Wizard will start. - > The installation process starts with the “Select WebSpellChecker Location” dialog. - > Choose location and click Next to proceed.

Step 2. Select Components: select components that you want to install. Click Next to proceed.

Step 3. Web/Application Server Settings: choose Apache Web Server option. Click Next to proceed.

Step 4. Specify Apache Web Server Settings: specify the path to the Apache Web Server configuration file (httpd.conf).

Step 5. Specify WebSpellChecker Service URL: select the installation point. By default port should be “80” for IIS Web Server. Click Next to proceed.

Step 6. Select WebSpellChecker Start Menu Folder: choose the name of the program as a Start Menu Item. Click Next to proceed.

Step 7. Start Installation: click Install to start the installation process.

Step 8. The installation process has been finished. To close the installation program dialog, click Finish.

Note: You can enable the “Activate License” and “Run WebSpellChecker Application Server” options that allow you to Activate the license and Start Application Server.

Step 9: Activate license:

To proceed with the license activation, first of all, you need to get ticket ID. You must use a combination of your username, License Request string and a License Reply string to activate a license. To activate the license follow this manual.

Step 10: Verify Installation Results:

Apache web server should be restarted after the installation.

The WebSpellChecker package has been set up on IIS Web Server. To configure the WebSpellChecker application on your Web Server, please perform the following:

Run the following commands to verify the WebSpellChecker application operability:

  • WebSpellChecker Application samples:
  • WebSpellChecker application version:
  • WebSpellChecker application status:

The correct response for Windows OS:

Spell Check Engine is ACTIVE 
Grammar Engine is ACTIVE
Thesaurus Engine is ACTIVE 

ACTIVE status means that an Engine works properly. NOT ACTIVE status means that an Engine is not enabled or does not work properly. Also, NOT ACTIVE status appears for the Grammar-check Engine in the case with the installation under the Linux-based environments.
